HLS07-Surviving a Winter Storm at 10,000 Feet! - High Lonesome Society
I hiked solo to the top of a 10,000-foot peak in the Montana backcountry to test my limits and my gear against a winter storm. This wasn't just a camping trip; it was a physical and mental battle against exhaustion, freezing temperatures, and relentless wind.
Carrying a 50lb pack through crusted snow to the summit left me completely drained, but the real challenge began after dark. I set up my 1-person tent completely exposed on the peak, cooked Yak steaks over a fire, and tried to sleep. By midnight, the wind hit. By 3:30 AM, a full-blown ground blizzard was driving snow under my rain fly and onto my face while I slept.
Watch as I navigate the reality of high-altitude survival, the struggle to stay warm when your shelter fails, and the brutal beauty of waking up alone on a frozen summit. This is a raw look at what it takes to endure the high lonesome.

The Philosophy: You don't know what you are capable of until you are freezing, exhausted, and miles from help. The misery of a storm at 10,000 feet isn't something to avoid—it's something to survive so you can come back stronger.
