CA267- The One Big Beautiful Bill - Cure America
Welcome to CURE America, hosted by Donald T. Eason, President of CURE—the Center for Urban Renewal and Education. Joining us today are Marty Dannenfelser, Vice President for Government Relations at CURE; Kris A. Ullman, President of Eagle Forum; and Jonathan Alexandre, Senior Counsel at Liberty Counsel Action. We're exploring the "One Big Beautiful Bill" signed by President Trump on July 4, 2025, with panel insights. First, an in-depth speech from Mike Johnson, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. As presiding officer and a Louisiana Republican leader, Johnson has championed conservative policies, faith, family, and American exceptionalism since 2023.
Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for joining this special CURE America edition celebrating the One Big Beautiful Bill—a landmark embodying the America First agenda and fulfilling 2024 election promises to diverse voters who rejected open borders, reckless spending, and division. As Speaker, I've guided this bill, uniting Black, Hispanic, Jewish, union, and suburban supporters for common sense and hope across America.
The bill extends the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act permanently, preventing 2026 hikes and saving families $10,000 yearly. Key boosts: Child Tax Credit to $2,200 (inflation-indexed), adoption credit to $5,000, exemptions for tips and overtime, and estate thresholds to $15-30 million, safeguarding farms while spurring 1.2% GDP growth via depreciation and R&D expensing. These aid the middle class, countering inflation with low gas prices and high stocks.
Welfare reforms add work requirements (20-80 hours/month) for able-bodied on Medicaid/SNAP, prioritizing vulnerable groups, barring illegals, and cutting $1.5 trillion in waste. It defunds Planned Parenthood for one year, redirecting to health centers, and boosts education with permanent Opportunity Zones and $1,700 scholarship credits to escape indoctrinated public schools.
Border security gets $170.7 billion: $51.6 billion for wall completion, 116,000 detention beds, 13,000 agents/officers, and Texas reimbursements—enforcing laws, reducing encounters, and restoring strength via NATO hikes, ceasefires, and trade deals. Though adding $3 trillion to the deficit short-term, it's an investment in a safer America.
As we celebrate our 249th birthday, trust the people, per Reagan. Built on God-given rights and 'In God We Trust,' this delivers results—not performance. God bless you and America.
