As Texas grapples with soaring electric costs and grid reliability issues, the conversation turns to ExxonMobil's $5 billion request for carbon capture funding. This episode dives deep into the implications of Exxon's ambitious emissions targets, which many deem unrealistic. Former State Representative Jason Isaac joins us for an insightful discussion about his recent testimony against Exxon's Rose carbon capture permit at the Texas Railroad Commission. Jason raises pertinent questions regarding the motivations behind Exxon’s voluntary ESG commitments and the financial burdens they impose on everyday Texans. As the Biden administration pushes for green initiatives via the Inflation Reduction Act, the episode scrutinizes how these federal regulations shape state energy policies and dollar demands on taxpayers. Discover why some Texas politicians are hesitant to support Exxon's carbon capture project and how these decisions could further jeopardize reliability in the electric grid. We also delve into the escalating costs associated with the proposed energy projects linked to ESG goals, which could potentially lead to an average household bill increase. Will Texans continue to bear the brunt of these costly initiatives masquerading as climate action?
