VL149-Oh Canada, Trump, Trade and Turmoil with Leighton Grey—Veronica - Veronica LIVE

In this hard‑hitting interview, Veronica Kemeny sits down with Canadian commentator Leighton Grey to unpack the growing Alberta secession movement and its ripple effects across the Canada‑US border. Grey recounts his eye‑opening experience at a 2024 Trump rally in Nevada, describing the energy of MAGA as a catalyst for a parallel grassroots wave in Alberta that rejects globalism, DEI mandates, and what they see as foreign‑controlled governance. Together they explore how Alberta’s push for a better deal within Confederation has morphed into a full‑blown independence campaign, the political hurdles of a provincial referendum, and the absence of a clear leader to steer the cause. The conversation turns to trade wars and tariffs, with both hosts warning that Canada’s current policies—shaped by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and former Bank of Canada governor Mark Carney—are tilting the nation toward Chinese influence. They cite alleged Chinese police presence, election interference, and the infiltration of DNC‑linked officials as evidence of a security threat that extends to the United States. Grey draws parallels between Trump’s hard‑line stance on China and the need for Canadian self‑reliance in steel, chips and other strategic industries.Veronica and Leighton also clash over cultural identity, arguing that a Christian‑rooted, culturally Western Canada is under siege from globalist elites and an unchecked immigration agenda. They criticize the World Economic Forum, label contemporary socialism as a form of communism, and call for a return to “freedom of expression” and open worship. The episode ends with rapid‑fire answers that reveal Leighton’s firm belief: independence is Alberta’s only hope, Mark Carney is a liar, Trudeau’s legacy is failure, and Trump is both a tough negotiator and a necessary provocateur. Listeners leave with a stark portrait of a nation at a crossroads, caught between a historic alliance with the United States and an internal battle for cultural and economic sovereignty.
