TBA94-The Ancient Machine Found in a Colorado Shaft in 1899 The Ute Already Had a Name for It - The Buried Archive
In the autumn of 1899, deep in the San Juan Range of Colorado, a mining crew unexpectedly breaches a mysterious shaft, unveiling an ancient machine unlike any known invention. As the miners explore the enigmatic structure, peculiar and unsettling phenomena begin to unfold: lost time, strange memories, and incomprehensible writing emerge among the crew. The Ute people, long familiar with the ridge, hold a wealth of hidden knowledge about the site, providing a startling contrast to the miners’ naivety about their discovery. August Fleer, a miner captured by the overwhelming presence of the machine, finds himself writing furiously in an unknown script for hours on end, as if channeling lost knowledge. The writing, filled with symbols yet to be deciphered, tells a story of a civilization that seems to have been purposefully erased from history. Weld McRae, a modern historian investigating the findings, is drawn into a web of intrigue stretching back centuries, linked to the mysterious cartographic erasure of Tartaria, a term that once denoted vast unexplored territory but now lingers only in obscure maps and texts. With the machine still operating at the bottom of the shaft, questions arise about its nature and purpose: What relationship did the Ute maintain with this object? Why did it continue to function without any visible means of power? As McRae digs deeper, he realizes that the towering presence of this machine is part of a far more complex tapestry of human history, encompassing not only the Ute’s ancestral memories but also the disturbing disruptions faced by the miners. The episode dives into the unknown and the relationships that humanity has with its past, as secrets buried deep in the earth beckon to be uncovered, yet caution that some doors are meant to remain closed.
