LSL17- A Lone Star Christmas: Holiday Cheer, Civic Reminders, and the Reason for the Season - Lone Star Ladies
In this special holiday edition of Lone Star Ladies, hosts Sheree Rose, Darlene Howell, and Brandie Kennedy wrap up the year with festive cheer, important civic reminders, and a heartfelt Christmas message rooted in faith. As a grassroots educational series focused on Texas Republican politics and current events, the Ladies take a brief pause from policy to help listeners celebrate the season—Texas style.
The episode opens with warm holiday wishes to listeners celebrating Christmas, Hanukkah, and the New Year, along with a reminder to like, subscribe, and stay connected while the show takes a short holiday break before returning in early January.
To help families make the most of the season, the Ladies highlight festive events happening across North Texas, including:
🎄 Lights on the Farm at Heritage Farmstead in Plano (through December 28)
❄️ ICE! featuring Elf at Gaylord Texan (through January 4)
🚂 Holiday Trains at NorthPark Mall (through January 4)
🌺 Holiday at the Arboretum (through January 4)
🎅 Grapevine, Texas Christmas Capital of the World (through January 6; tickets required)
🎶 Rhinestone Rodeo New Year’s Eve at Legacy Hall (ticketed event with live ’90s country music)
🎆 New Year’s Eve Fireworks at Reunion Tower and Tupps Brewery in McKinney (no tickets required)
The Ladies also shift briefly back to civic engagement, reminding listeners about the January special city council election, the upcoming Lincoln–Reagan Dinner on January 10, and critical dates for the 2026 Texas Primary Election:
February 2: Last day to register to vote
February 17–27: Early voting
February 20: Last day to apply for a ballot by mail
March 3: Primary Election Day
Looking ahead, they preview an active election year filled with office-by-office breakdowns, candidate interviews, sample ballots, and grassroots outreach—plus opportunities for volunteers to help with block walking, phone banking, and campaign support.
The episode closes on a meaningful note as the Ladies share Luke 2:12–14, reminding listeners that the true reason for the season is Jesus Christ, and offering prayers for peace, joy, and goodwill.
With Texas charm, faith, and gratitude, the Lone Star Ladies wish everyone a joyful holiday season and look forward to reconnecting in the new year.
