Coaching a team of people can be difficult. It’s more difficult to coach a team of people when the leader of that team is not coachable. Perhaps they have it all figured out. Perhaps they are unwilling to be lead by new ideas, new feelings, new beliefs. Perhaps they have blind spots, blame shifting and a bad attitude as common practice in their daily execution.
When leading and when coaching leaders we must be willing to accept responsibility and allow our own awareness to be challenged and elevated. Without honest, heartfelt, sometimes painful personal evaluation leaders remain stuck. One of the hardest and yet most powerful questions to consider is this: What could I have done differently before we got here?
